Class Description and Attire

JR STARS: (AGES 3-5)

This is a 45 minute class including instruction in both beginning tap and ballet skills. This class is structured for the child who is ready to dance independently. Children are introduced to basic movements, which promotes both rhythm and body awareness, as well as focusing on gross motor skills and individual expression. Tap will provide an emphasis on rhythm, musicality and basic steps. 

This class requires a leotard, tights, pink ballet shoes and tan tap shoes.

 

TOT HOP: (AGES 3-5)

This 45 minute class introduces young children to the basics of hip hop.  In this high energy class teaches beginner hip hop movement to upbeat and age appropriate music.  So much fun!!

This class requires comfortable clothes you can move in as well as clean tennis shoes.

 

LEVEL 1 COMBO: (AGES 5-7)

This is a 1 hour class that focuses on teaching dancers the basic fundamentals of tap, ballet and jazz styles. With jazz the kids work on flexibility and jazz technique, in tap they work on rhythm, musicality and basic tap technique. This class allows your dancer to try out a variety of different dance styles within one class.

This class requires a leotard, tights, pink ballet shoes and tan tap shoes.

 

HIP HOP: (AGES 7-15)

This is a 45 minute high energy class that consists of urban movement that is grounded to the floor. This dance style works all muscles of the body and works on isolating those muscles and movements into choreography.

This class requires comfortable clothes you can move in as well as clean tennis shoes.

ACRO LEVELS 2-7: (AGES 7-18)

These classes are 45 minutes focusing on learning tricks and skills we can incorporate into our dances. Acro, short for acrobatics is where dancers increase flexibility and strength as they learn gymnastic movements such as backbends, handstands, cartwheels, front and back walkovers, handsprings, and partnering skills.

This class requires a leotard or bra top and shorts as well bare feet.

 

BALLET LEVELS 2-7: (AGES 7-18)

Ballet is a classical dance form demanding grace and precision and employing formalized steps and gestures set in intricate, flowing patterns to create expression through movement. These classes are 45 minutes for Level 2, 1 hour for Level 3 and 90 minutes for Level 4-7 and focus on ballet technique,terminology, strength and flexibility. These classes are built to not only work on ballet technique, which is needed for all forms of dance, but it will also help with discipline and control of the body. 

This class requires a solid colored leotard and pink tights with pink ballet shoes.

 

PRE-POINTE: (AGES 11-14)

This class is 30 minutes and is an extension of Ballet but goes through the fundamentals of basic pointe work. Working extensively on strengthening the ankles and feet in preparation for pointe shoes.

This class requires a solid color leotard and pink tights with pink ballet shoes.

 

POINTE: (AGES 13-18)

This class is 30 minutes and is an extension of Ballet but goes through the fundamentals of pointe work. Working on strengthening the ankles and feet for more extensive work on the toes. 

This class requires a solid color leotard and pink tights with pointe shoes.

 

JAZZ LEVELS 2-7: (AGES 7-18)

This is a 45 minute class for Level 2, 1 hour class for Level 3 and 90 minute class for Levels 5-7 that is high energy, which promotes endurance, also focusing on isolations, flexibility, turns and leaps. Students will have the opportunity to learn combinations for jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, and lyrical as well as progressions across the floor throughout the semester. 

This class requires a leotard or bra top and shorts with an option of tights and tan jazz shoes.

 

TAP LEVELS 2-7: (AGES 7-18)

These classes are 45 minutes and teach tap technique with a strong emphasis on rhythm, musicality and step combinations. We work heavily on how to put rhythm to a song as well as how to create music with your own feet. We teach a mixture of tap styles including “Broadway” for the basics and “Hoofing” for the more advanced dancer. Broadway style tap is more of the fundamentals of the style and Hoofing is taking those fundamentals and figuring out how to change the rhythms and add more complex steps. 

This class requires a leotard or bra top and booty shorts with an option of tights and black tap shoes.
